Daily: Make Your Own Cuppa' with Arissto Capsule Coffee Machine

The thought of waking up to the aroma of coffee beans brewing is just simply amazing! As a coffee lover, what's better to own a coffee machine yourself? This is like a dream come true to me as I have always wanted to own a coffee machine.

Arissto is my choice of coffee machine as it's simple and easy to use for a starter like me :) In fact,  I've also heard that this is newly launched in Malaysia and worth the try! My first impression of this compact little machine is that it's sturdy and solid, together with the colour combination which give it's premium feel to it on first touch.

It has 2 different buttons on the front portion of the machine depending on the size of your cup/mug of your liking (i.e 60ml for the top and 120ml for the bottom). I personally prefer 60 ml as I like my cuppa a little stronger.

This beauty is also great when it comes to practicality as you can see from the picture that it can also fit a tall glass.

The different varieties of coffee grounds capsule. My favourite would be the Passion!

Besides the exterior, it is also very easy to use! First, you need to fill the water tank, just behind the machine with normal temperature filtered water.

Next, choose your preferred choice of coffee ground and slot it into the allocated compartment without opening the package. The compartment is located just above the machine beneath the silver lid. Close the silver lid once you've place your coffee ground.

Don't forget to add milk too!

Finally, press on to your preferred size and wait for your cuppa to be served :) It takes less than 3 minutes for your coffee to be ready!

A video for your enjoyment!

Every time I visit a cafe, my go to cuppa would be a Cappuccino. I love the foams of the cappuccino which gives it smooth feeling. Arissto is able to give me the layer of foam on my cuppa too, which is amazing!

In a nut shell, I personally think that this beauty is worth the price and it's fun to make coffee with it! What's best about this is that there isn't a need to pre-heat the water as the machine is automated to do it for me. Now, I can get my coffee fix every morning even when I'm in a rush with Arissto Coffee Machine!

Food: Caffeinated @ IOI Boulevard, Puchong

Attention to all coffee lovers out there! I have finally found the perfect place to satisfy all your daily caffeine fix and to basically chill with your friends on a lazy Sunday.

Caffeinated is the brainchild of Tarick Tan, a barista who is passionate in making that ideal cuppa' for you. Its located in a strategic place, the IOI Boulevard of Puchong where there are plenty of parking inside the building so don't worry about that.

I love the soft and subtle concept of the cafe, which gives that warm feeling to anyone who steps in.
There were a few families having their early dinner when we were there, so it is not only a cafe serving coffee but rather, a place for everyone!

The beautifully decorated order counter with flowers and ornamental items.

For those who prefer something else than coffee, they do have other choices like juices here :)

Affogato with Kapiti Ice Cream (RM 14.00)
Here, they boasts on using fine quality ice cream from New Zealand, known as Kapiti ice cream which is smooth and rich. The one we tried is the Pohutukawa Honey flavour which has just the right sweetness without overpowering the coffee when its mixed together.

Bailey's Tiramisu (RM 17.00)
Wow, this cup is filled with goodness from mascarpone cheese, farm fresh milk, Bailey's Irish Cream and espresso! It will blow your mind once you try it. This was the product of one of Tarick's creative experiment and this mixture is surprisingly good, even for a non-coffee fan like me because of its milkiness.

Dark Chocolate Float (RM 15.00)
This is the cutest drink ever, which is supposed to look like an Android design. There's Oreo's in this and I love this concoction.

Big Breakfast (RM 22.00)
A generous serving of scrambled eggs, muesli toast, sauteed' mushrooms, sausage and two slices of ham, this is the definition of eating like a King for breakfast. I love their muesli toast because its crispy on the outside but soft on the inside.

Mushroom Pizza (RM 20.00)
Thin crust pizza topped with generous amounts of white button mushrooms, shiitake, olives, capsicum and mozzarella cheese. This 10' sized pizza is good for sharing with your partner. The barbecue sauce at the bottom complimented the rest of the ingredients and truly enhanced the flavour.

German Sausage Baguette (RM 18.00)
This baguette meal is for those who prefer something out of the norm. We chose the German Sausage version but there are other types such as Lamb Leg, Turkey Ham or Smoked Chicken to choose from. This wholesome meal is packed with cheddar cheese, German Sausage, lettuce, tomatoes and some mayonnaise and wasabi dressing on top.

Carbonara Mushroom (RM 15.00)
Thick and milky carbonara sauce coating the pasta! This would be pretty heavy for most of you out there, but it wasn't for me and I needed to add some Parmesan cheese inside to savour this plate of pasta. There were various types of mushroom used in this and I would say the serving is quite huge as well.

Sharing Platter - Under The Sea (RM 80.00) - 2 -3 pax

This platter comes with a variety of seafood; dory fish, squid and prawns plus Foot-long, German sausage and Spicy French sausage. Some of the sides include Aglio Olio spaghetti, fries, sweet corn, tomato, sesame dressing salad and crispy nachos for kids to munch on while the parents indulge in the fresh seafood.

A picture before we end the night at this cozy new-found hangout place!

Daily: Coffee Appreciation Session @ Caffe Crema Coffee & Tea, Plaza Mont Kiara

I'm not an expert at coffee, but yes, I drink it occasionally once in a while. Well, that's because I don't appreciate coffee like how others do. This is why I figured I need to be educated on this drink which has become a staple to people around the world. There are so many ways to have your coffee, be it an Espresso, Latte, Americano, Mocha or anything, you name it.

I was a noob at coffee and I received an all-in-one, concised coffee 101 at Caffe Crema Coffee & Tea yesterday. A cosy cafe tucked in the corners of this bustling area with a concept of hair and coffee, it is filled with passionate coffee drinkers or those who wants to hangout with their friends at a nice, comfy place. I like how Caffe Crema collaborates with the all famous hair salon, Number 76 next door and you can even have them deliver your coffee while having your hair done. Pretty interesting I would say, and it's definitely a first in Malaysia.

Patrons can enjoy their favourite cup of coffee in a quiet, classic simple environment. The concept of this cafe is 'Back to Basics' so there isn't too much elaborate decorations.
Some of the coffee enthusiast must-haves! They sell their Signature Blend here and some pretty cool coffee grinders as well.

We had a conversation with the mastermind behind this cafe, Elvin who mentioned he started out drinking commercial coffee and found it very interesting. His brainchild, Caffe Crema was founded based on his passion in coffee. Here, he emphasises that he wants the primary focus to be coffee and secondarily, cakes and desserts. Believe it or not, it was a mere 2 and a half months before this place was opened to public. Elvin mentioned that he has been constantly planning for this because opening a cafe has always been his dream.

At Caffe Crema, a good cup of coffee depends on the one who will be drinking it. Its an individualistic thing and they usually ask the customers what type of coffee they prefer. The baristas are well trained by an Australian and are very specific and particular in making the perfect cup of coffee.

The baristas hard at work to produce your perfect cup!

The session began with us smelling some commercial coffee blends which kind of smells like burnt chilli flakes to me. I liked the smell of Trucillo Moka Espresso which was slightly lighter and mild. The basics of coffee is that once it is roasted, it should be consumed within a month. A good cup of coffee is achieved by grinding the beans only when you want to drink it. Oh, just a note, never ever store your coffee beans in the fridge, they are best kept at room temperature in a dark, cool place.

Feeling different size of grinded coffee. Do you know that the size actually plays a part in whether your coffee will taste bad or good?

We even got to taste underextracted coffee (below shot time) and it was the most sour, acidic and pungent drink I've ever tasted. The overextracted (above shot time) was overwhelmingly bitter and it was just disgusting. That's why it is important to achieve a balanced cup where the shot time is just right on the dot and it should be slightly sour with a hint of bitterness.

The Signature Blend available here is a mix of beans from Brazil, Bali and Costa Rica, It is perfect for those who prefer a smooth coffee taste which isn't so strong. They do offer Raven Blend here which is a tad bit stronger with a dark chocolate flavour to it. Oh, and here, they try to incorporate science in making their coffee with a refractometer to ensure the consistency of their coffee everyday.

Looks like a credit card swipe machine. But in fact, this is a refractometer which will provide the data of the coffee placed on it. Pretty useful to maintain the consistency of coffee on a daily basis.

Trying my very best to concentrate on latte art, the outcome wasn't too good though. Haha.

The latte art made by the trained barista. We had a try at it and I ended up having a milky coffee with no art at all. Haha, it's pretty tough to have such a pretty cup!

Some of the array of cakes available here, bear in mind that they are all homemade so they are of the highest quality. I've selected my personal favourites below.

Strawberry Cheesecake
Smooth and melt in your mouth with a hint of strawberry!

Toblerone and Oreo Cheesecake
For the chocolate lover, this cheesecake is a definite must have. Rich chocolate-y flavour coupled with cheese taste, this is a dessert which will comfort you even on a bad day :)

Mille Crepe Cakes

My #ootd outside the fancy yet simple cafe.
