Food: Mr Dakgalbi @ Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

At the mere mention of 'Dakgalbi', my heart races and I can get super hyper because I absolutely love this dish. As most of you guys know, I am a die-hard fan of Korean food and I'm not just saying it for fun because I do cook 'doenjang jjigae' (beanpaste stew) and 'kimchi jjigae' (kimchi stew). I have been making my own kimchi for the past one year, but I'm no perfect chef because I think I need plenty of practice to get the taste right.

Anyway, I headed over to Mr Dakgalbi at Bukit Bintang yesterday for a blogger's event. It was pretty tiring to take a one hour train ride down to hustles and bustles of the city at night but it was worth it once I saw the pretty interior of the shop.

Here's one which I grabbed from my Instagram hee!

Pretty, no? :)

The food finally arrived and as usual, it's served in a large, flat pan. We were so special that the CEO, Mr Ahn decided to cook it for us. Before you feast your eyes on those mouth watering pictures, here's a brief outline what 'Dakgalbi' is all about and why people love it.

There's chicken (Dakgalbi translates to chicken ribs, but they decided to use chicken thigh because the meat is smoother), rice cake, onion, scallions, cabbage, noodles (or ramyun, perhaps) and rice.

YUMS!

To those who don't fancy eating vegetables, this is probably the best way for you to get those vitamins. They cook this so well that even the cabbages are good. Oh, despite being too spicy for me, the ingredients such as the chicken and 'ddeok' (rice cake) in this was definitely of the best quality. The chicken was marinated well and filled with flavours.

A shot of the rice which they usually add after you eat half of what was firstly cooked in the pan.

Pizza rice!
Oh, and they added some cheese inside to make it exactly like pizza. Don't worry, the cheese wasn't too strong and overwhelming. Just nice for me actually.

Here's a special dish of the night, 'Jangban Noodles', courtesy of the generous boss. Haha. It's a spicy noodle which was served cold and although it tasted quite nice, I was too full to stomach anything else. I still have a whole lot of this in the fridge and I ate it for lunch just now. It was a little like kimchi mixed with noodles to me, though.

Take One with the emcee of the night, Sean! Yes, we are still in the CNY mood :)

Take Two!

There are lots of selfies of the night, but I shall save you guys from my self obsession. Haha.

Anyway, for more information, head over to their Facebook and the address of this awesome place is as below:

Daily: Unleash The Princess in You with Fanny Crown!

It's every girl's childhood dream to live a day as a princess and to have all eyes on her as she walks into the room. Deny it as much as we want, there are times where we wished we had that perfect dress along with accessories which of course, is fit for royals. A few days ago, I came across Fanny Crown and I thought maybe my dream could finally come true!

Why, you may ask? First off, head over to their website and lay your eyes on those stunning dresses :) Trust me, I was spoiled for choice when I needed to pick the most awesome dress to write this post. Being your average girl, I was going through almost every list there was and finally after much discretion, I finally decided!

Ta-da, yes I chose the Spectacular Floral Trumpet Evening Dress! The first time I laid my eyes on this dress and as cliche as it may sound, I fell in love. I personally felt that the organza material is so delicate, dreamy and dainty at the same time. It flatters and accentuates your figure at the right places because the dress is shaped like a trumpet. As for me, I've always wanted a dress which will flaunt the best of my body because not too long ago, someone special told me that my body was the best asset I have (eventhough I don't have your perfect hourglass figure). Haha.

Nothing in this world will make a girl feel more special than Swarovski crystals. And, that's the very reason why I chose Christian Louboutin's Very Riche Strass for shoes which is completely embedded with shiny crystals that will compliment the dress and not outshine it instead. As for accessories, simplicity is the key and I was thinking of Victoria Townsend Diamond Accent Heart Drop Earrings because you can never go wrong with diamonds. Add the Princess Bracelet by Her Jewellery to match the earrings as well. Next, complete the look with a Red Valentino Bow Soft Leather Clutch which literally screams enchanting and sweet all over.

Makeup should be kept to a minimal since the style I'm creating is more focused on pure and innocent like an angelic princess. I would recommend my all time favourite, Naked 2 Palette which has earthy tones I truly love and is suitable for any occasion. My beauty rule is a girl should never leave her house without a spritz of perfume. I chose Clinique Happy Heart which I reckon is the best choice since its a fragrance which is not too overwhelming and is just the perfect thing to sweep those boys off their feet.

If you're curious, just click here for a complete view from all angles of this beauty.

Wait, you girls will love to know this! The best part is at Fanny Crown, you can custom made your dress so that it fits you without those unsightly loose parts which we loathe. So, this is all part of Fanny Crown's current contest which I really hope to win (keep those fingers crossed!) and the prizes are:

Food: Restoran Chen Fatt @ Serdang, Seri Kembangan

In midst of all the Chinese New Year hype, we had a family dinner and this time, we headed out to the famous Chen Fatt Restaurant. It is a no-frills place to have your meals but the food served are so unique that you probably can't find it anywhere else. Here, I shall introduce the best things of their menu!

4 Seasons Combination
This had chicken, fried foo chok with stuffings, eggs and fishcakes. Nothing fantastic to be honest, but it's just to get everyone in the Chinese New Year mood as it is a regular dish for the celebrations.

Steamed Lala in Chinese Wine
Definitely the best dish of the night! The wine was so strong you could get drunk on it. Flavorful and fresh, this is best eaten with hot steaming white rice. Oh, and the clams were so huge and chewy that we ordered two servings of this.

'Taufu Kang'
This is a mixture of tofu and eggs. It's a bit similar to your shark fin's soup but the consistency is thicker for this. They had mushrooms in this and it is pretty much a comfort food, I would say.

Fried Chicken Skin Stuffed with Fishcake
You can eat this on its own or with rice! The skin is so crispy as if its a piece of paper and the texture of the fishcake is bouncy. It wasn't oily which is perfect for a health freak like me. The serving size is generous and this is value for money.

That's all, till next time peeps!

Daily: Chinese New Year 2014

So, since my last plan to kind of revamp my blog and to showcase my love for fashion (thanks to my pretty sissy, Carmen of course), I will officially start writing about the the once in a year event which I will always anticipate to, Chinese New Year!

Reunion: We decided to forgo the conventional food for reunion and chose steamboat instead. Pretty much everyone did steamboat this year though, eh? Oh, look at the 'Yee Sang' which my cousin sister painstakingly arranged according to all the different zodiacs every year. So much effort and all we do is toss it around in the end haha.

Can you see the horse running on the grass? :)

Steamboat spread which I ate till heart's content. Hee.

***********

Day 1: Mediocre because our plans were changed drastically compared to the years before due to some unexpected stuffs which happened. Anyway, we stuffed ourselves to endless cookies and a few of my aunts came over. Boo, here's my simple OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) and I decided to go blue on the first day because blue signifies confidence. Forget the boring red and turn some heads with sexy blue!

***********

Day 2 : I woke up feeling like the party just started. I've always loved the second day of CNY because it's always so happening. It was like a perfect painting of what anyone would ever imagine how the Chinese celebrates their new year. I chose a more eye-popping outfit, the Retro Block Shift Dress from Fabspy because they were so awesome to give it to me for FREE! Love em' girls!

Definitely hands-down the most comfy dress ever!

What's a Chinese New Year without selfie right? Here's one with this cutie pie, Brandon who is pretending to sleep haha.

**********

Day 3: It's always been family visitings and friends on this day. This year, we had lunch with family friends' instead of the usual dinner. We headed to Sungai Buloh to try out the infamous 'Standing Chicken' & 'Poon Choi'. Before the food, I just wanted to show everyone my outfit which I am greatly in love with. How can you not love that vibrant red checkered shirt which fits perfectly? Before you start asking where I got it, it's from Kitschen's latest warehouse sale for ONLY RM 5 :)

Ta-da!

This gigantic bowl of goodness is filled with almost any type of meat you can imagine, except fish. It would be perfect for a table of 12 but we only had 7 people at ours and we were all stuffing ourselves. It was about RM 500 and I personally think it's pretty cheap for so much good food. Oh, did I mention that the abalone in this dish was like a comfort food with its soft and chewy texture. The roast duck was fragrant and the meatball piled at the side was really yummy.

This is obviously a marketing gimmick. It's just roast chicken placed on a stick to make it seem like it's standing. It wasn't well marinated because the breast meat was rather tasteless, the only thing about this fancy chicken is its super crispy skin. That's all seriously. For approximately RM 40, i wouldn't even recommend anyone to try it.

Selfie of the day!

Day 4: The last day before uni starts and I seriously wished I had longer holidays. Ugh. Anyway, here's a picture of what I wore.

That kind of marks the end of my CNY and I'm hoping to have more time to blog this year. Let's toast to the start of Semester 3!
