With a cheeky twist to its name, Fork D World @ Damansara Perdana is a chic, cosy restaurant that I've recently tried out.
I was always curious to try it out because the name itself is rather catchy and I wanted to check out the type of cuisine they served. Basically, they are similar to any typical cafe but their focus is on pork, like seriously, literally every dish has some pork or bacon in it.
The restaurant is comfortable and spacious with some simple decorations.
CNY Lou Sang
Awesome Bacon Lou Sang (RM 55/nett)
I've never been fond of 'yee sang' because I didn't like the taste of the radish in it. But this 'lou sang' we had at Fork D World is differemt.
Loaded with tons of pomelo, guava (to replace the radish), coloured fried yam, pork lard, streaky bacon, back bacon and pork skin, one helping is guaranteed not enough for anyone at all. The plum sauce is home made and infused with bacon bits too. I enjoyed the sweetness of the guava combined with the crisp from the bacon and pork skin. Wonderful idea of using pork instead of fish for the signature 'lou sang'!
APPETIZERS
Bacon Bombs (RM 18 for 8 pcs)
This little cheese and bacon bombs serve well as appetizers before the main dishes arrive.
Mozzarella cheese stuffed within crusty puff pastry and then wrapped with bacon before being deep fried. Sinful dish but why not, after all, you only live once!
MAINS
Grilled Australian Lamb Loin (RM 35)
The lamb loins were bursting with flavors and was extremely well marinated with the 20-year old recipe. Not to mention, it was grilled to perfection too.
It was served with sides of roasted onion and some baked potatoes. I'll definitely be back for more lamb loins.
Porky Bacon Lasagna (RM 20)
This salty and tangy lasagna is something different from the usual lasagna which uses beef.
The bolognese sauce had some honey added in it for some natural sweetness as well as some bacon chips. The sauce is home made from scratch, and you can find this in the Daily Specials section.
Carbonara Pasta (RM 22)
Your classic carbonara sauce served with raw egg yolk and some bacon, of course. You may also choose different types of pasta but the one served was fettucine.
Roast Pork Fried Pasta (RM 22)
A twist to the ordinary 'mee goreng' with some roast pork and pasta! The aroma of this dish is no joke, you will definitely keep wanting more. Probably because of the pork lard and olive oil used to cook this dish. I love the crisp from the roast pork which was sauteed prior to adding it into the pasta.
A little fattening definitely, but worth a few extra minutes of workout in the gym.
Sambal Shrimp Pizza (RM 22)
Toppings include shrimp, bacon chips, onions, cheese with some sambal tomato based sauce.
Roast Pork Pizza (RM 22)
In any case, if you plan to visit them soon, take note! Fork D World will be closed during Chinese New Year from 7th to 14th February. However, you may still call in and pre-order during this period for takeaways only.
Be sure not to miss out on the Awesome Bacon Lou Sang available from now till the last day of Chinese New Year (23rd February)!
