Daily: Embrace Tuna Goodness with TC Boy!

I have always had tuna sandwiches as a child up till now. But, I've never really explored the versatility of this humble fishy goodness until a few weeks back. Tuna contains the mineral selenium which acts as an antioxidant and protecting red blood cells from free radical damage.

TC Boy offers a wide range of different type of tuna in cans, from ready made ones which you can spread on sandwiches to the normal ones in sunflower oil. For busy university students like myself, this can be a life saver on days where you are running late for classes and all you crave for is a hearty breakfast to provide you enough energy for those dreaded morning classes.

I've known the brand for a long time now, it is now a household name when it comes to tuna. Just a brief introduction for those uninitiated.

TC Boy is a local Malaysian brand that was founded in 1991. The story of the brand was well known in the whole Penang state as its founding base of the brand is a father’s love towards his special son that has brought luck to him during establishment of canning company. The founder, Dato Seri Tan Boon Pin established TC Boy brand in memory of his son so that his love towards his son can be passed down through the brand, eternally.

All TC Boy brand products are Halal certified by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) or authorized Islamic certification bodies as recognized by JAKIM.

So, I had a few cans of tuna and I was cracking my head, trying to come out with recipes which haven't been created yet. I wanted to be the mastermind of some amazing recipes. I sat down for many hours and finally after some research, ta-da, I managed to combine what I love the most, potatoes and tuna. Plus tons of cheese!

Guess what I made?

I decided to make Tuna and Mushroom Pie, its similar to Shepherd's pie but the only difference is the bottom filling was tuna and other ingredients.

I prepared all the ingredients and arrange them nicely for a mandatory food shot!
Scroll down for the recipe :)

Half finished product before being baked in the oven. Look at the amount of cheese, heavenly!

Yummy pie, freshly baked right out of the oven :)

I know most of you guys must be wondering how I made this, so here's the recipe for you.

Tuna and Mushroom Pie
Serves 3

Ingredients
1 can of TC Boy Tuna Chunks in Sunflower Oil
4 large potatoes
1 tbsp butter
1/3 cup of milk
1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
1 can of button mushrooms
1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
5 cloves of garlic, peeled and chopped
2 tbsps of lime juice
Salt and black pepper

Steps
1. Peel and wash the potatoes. Chop them and boil for about 10 minutes till they are soft enough to mash.
2. Mash potatoes with butter and milk.
3. Heat up a pan and fry onions till brown. Add in garlic and continue frying for a few minutes.
4. Add the mushrooms and tuna in. Saute until fragrant. Add in some salt and black pepper to taste.
5. Add in the lime juice and mix well.
6. Evenly distribute the mixture into the respective bowls. Add some mashed potatoes on top and use the back of the spoon to even it out.
7. Sprinkle some cheese on the top of the pie.
8. Bake in the preheated 200°C oven for 20 minutes until the top becomes golden brown.

I've been rather busy lately, so watch out for more updates soon, I might come out with another recipe using tuna again!
